Los Cerrillos Pedigree Ranch

Estancia Los Cerrillos is located at the foot of the Sierras Chicas de Córdoba, along Route 5 that connects Alta Gracia and the city of Córdoba. The establishment has plots of agricultural aptitude and Scrubland area where we adapt the different stages of the Breeding, Rearing and Finishing of our animals to the seasonal cycles of our pastures as well as the recognition of native species and toxic weeds. Los Cerrillos started in 2014 with 60 Pure Controlled Angus heifers from Lincoln, Buenos Aires. Since then, we have increased and improved our herd through selection of internal replacements and purchase of breeding stock, based on pillars such as Genetics, Nutrition, Animal Welfare and Good Management Practices.

Currently, Los Cerrillos has 450 purebred and controlled pure Black and Red Angus breeding females. Genetics is our key pillar, which is why we apply techniques such as Fixed-Time Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer to improve our herd, adapting it to our productive system. We also select the bulls for natural breeding carefully, choosing sires based on meat quality and reproductive traits, precocity, birth weight, and docility among others. This enables us to apply a strong selection pressure for future replacement breeders and those that are sold, based on phenotype, hardiness, fertility, precocity and adaptation to hilly environments. As a result, we offer our clients highly functional and productive breeding stock to improve their breeding herds.

Our Certifications

Our pedigree cattle ranch, as one of the business units of Tecnocampo, operates under the same principles of sustainability and Good Practices that have been implemented for over 30 years in our family business. From the very beginning, Los Cerrillos has certified Quality and Traceability standards such as ASC.

Teamwork

Thanks to the effort, passion and commitment of the Cabaña Angus Los Cerrillos work team, we see improvements every year in the results at local exhibitions with excellent recognition. Among the Exhibitions sponsored by the Argentine Angus Association, we attended the ones hosted by Sociedad Rural de Jesús María, Sociedad Rural de Río Cuarto, Sociedad Rural de San Justo and Universidad Católica de Córdoba.

Agreements and Internships

Every year, we host interns from local schools as well as Agronomy students from the National University of Córdoba and the Catholic University of Córdoba. Our goal is to provide them with field support, including walking through the corrals and performing handling tasks with our breeding stock that participate in exhibitions.

Breeding stock selection

Precocity and Fertility

• We select heifers that conceive at 11-14 months and produce a superior calf at 21-23 months of age.
• Weaning of calves weighing 15 kg above average, and 23 kg more than calves from cows in their second calving.

Periodically audited through weighing and quality confirmed by the Slaughterhouses.
